New Publication - PoTeM Core Structure Extension as Hot Paper in Angewandte Chemie

Have a look at our new publication about Expanding Polycyclic Tetramate Macrolactam (PoTeM) Core Structure Diversity by Chemo-Enzymatic Synthesis and Bioengineering in Angewandte Chemie. This work describes the modification of the PoTeM core structure by two different approaches; 1) chemo-enzymatic synthesis of an extended biosynthetic precursor and enzymatic cyclization in vitro, and 2) engineering the adenylation domain of the PKS/NRPS IkaA, resulting in a recombinant bacterial homo-ikarugamycin producer. It establishes an entirely new PoTeM structural framework and sets the stage for the biotechnological diversification of the PoTeM natural product class in general.
