Short Biography:
My research focuses on theoretical light-matter interactions, with a particular emphasis on linear and nonlinear Plasmonics and Nanophotonics.
I received my undergraduate degree in Physics from the University of Pisa before earning a Ph.D. from the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) in Madrid. My postdoctoral training included a position in Amsterdam and a Marie Curie Fellowship at Imperial College London. In 2014, I established my research group within the Condensed Matter Theory section at Imperial College, and I have recently accepted a new position as Chief Researcher at the TII in Abu Dhabi.
Abstract:
We present our recent research at TII on the plasmonic properties of graphene for the design and development of novel materials in nanophotonics and smart systems.
This research harnesses graphene's electrically tunable plasmons to design novel nanophotonics and smart systems materials. We focus on engineering dynamically reconfigurable devices, including high-speed modulators and adaptive metasurfaces, by integrating graphene into new material architectures. This approach enables active control over light-matter interactions at the nanoscale, paving the way for transformative technologies in advanced sensing, optical communication, and adaptive optics.
