Guest Lecture: Prof. Dr. Hélio Anderson Duarte
The Collaborative Research Center 1415 was pleased to welcome Prof. Dr. Hélio Anderson Duarte from the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais for his lecture, “Understanding Sulfide Minerals from First Principles: Surfaces, Reactivity and Emerging 2D Materials,” on September 4, 2026. Prof. Duarte highlighted the importance of sulfide minerals beyond their traditional role as sources of many metals, focusing instead on the promising technological applications of naturally occurring two-dimensional sulfide minerals, as well as on recent research by his group aimed at understanding the reactivity and thermodynamic properties of various iron- and copper-based sulfides.
The CRC 1415 sincerely thanks Prof. Dr. Duarte for his inspiring seminar and valuable contributions to our scientific community.
