Guest Lecture: Prof. Dr. Katherine A. Mirica

The Collaborative Research Centre (CRC) 1415 is delighted to welcome Prof. Dr. Katherine A. Mirica from Dartmouth College, USA, as a Mercator Fellow. Prof. Dr. Mirica will be a guest at Technical University of Dresden from September 9 to October 24, 2025, to engage in intensive networking and exchange with researchers from various disciplines.

In addition to individual scientific discussions, Prof. Dr. Mirica will give a lecture on September 11, 2025, entitled: "Smart Membranes for Simultaneous Chemical Sensing, Filtration, and Detoxification."

In her guest lecture, Prof. Dr. Mirica will present conductive 2D metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) that are suitable for implementation in textiles as intelligent membranes for gas detection and filtration. Her research explores in detail how the structure of MOFs enables selective, sensitive, and energy-efficient detection of toxic gases such as SO₂, H₂S, NOₓ, NH₃, and CO.
