On-Liquid Surface Synthesis of 2D Polymers and their van der Waals Heterostructures
The project will develop a pioneering synthetic methodology on liquid surfaces that enables the precise synthesis of unprecedented 2DPs and their vdW HSs through irreversible chemistry. The major tasks involve the development of innovative approaches for the on-liquid synthesis of 2DPs and 2DP HSs.
1st Funding Period
Soft-Template-Assisted On-Water Surface Synthesis of 2D Polymers
The project will focus on the on-water surface synthesis of single- and few-layer (< 10 layers) porphyrin-based 2D polymers (2DPs) with large crystalline domains (μm2) via dynamic covalent bonds (squaraine, imine and imide linkages) by soft-template-assisted method. Moreover, the corresponding structural characterization and reaction mechanism will be elucidated. Special focus will be given to the understanding of the role of soft-templates for the synthesis of 2DPs and to address the controllable stacking of the monomers, the defect repairing, the enhancement of the polymerization degree, etc.
