Inno-Lead@Work: Work psychologists of TUD investigate challenges of the textile industry in Bangladesh
The research project "Fostering Innovation, Performance and Resilience through Leadership and modern Work Design" of Technische Universität Dresden in cooperation with GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH) and BGMEA (Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association) deals with the challenges of the textile industry in Bangladesh, the second largest textile exporter worldwide. The question being investigated is how innovation, wellbeing and sustainability can be promoted through modern work design and leadership.
For this purpose, the project team of Technische Universität Dresden, Prof. Dr. Jürgen Wegge, Prof. Dr. Petra Kemter-Hofmann and Prof. Dr. Lars Fritzsche, traveled to Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, at the beginning of November.
Besides a successful kick-off workshop with the CIEOSH Innovation Centre, the team got insights into the work of different textile factories. They also visited the BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT), where students have been trained in textile business since 2012. With many new impressions in their luggage as well as concrete next steps for the cooperation, the team traveled back to Germany after one week.
Inno-Lead@Work (duration: 09/22-12/24) is funded by the HELD project (Higher Education and Leadership Development for Sustainable Textiles in Bangladesh), which is supported by GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH). The HELD project is implemented on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) together with the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of Bangladesh.
