February 2015 - Living in Dresden in the Times of Pegida
About 30 international scientists came together to discuss with Professor Karlheinz Ruhstorfer, Systematic Theology, Institute for Catholic Theology, Faculty of Philosophy, TU Dresden, on the topic of Living in Dresden in the Times of Pegida. March 2015 - When Tony Met Mo – Movie night with discussion
The Staff Unit for Diversity Management/Dual Career Service for International Scientists and the International Office at the School of Science were happy to host to a successful brainstorming event with a BBC documentary, "Quitting the English Defence League: When Tony Met Mo".
March 2015 - „How better to understand Dresden and its people"
We invited international and German people in Dresden, locals and guests alike, to participate in our workshop called "How better to understand Dresden and its people." Not only did the workshop become an encounter of different nations, such as Chile, India, Cuba, Ethiopia, France and many more, but also an encounter of different generations, the oldest participant being 78, the youngest 23. It was doubtlessly this composition of different backgrounds, individual fates and stories that made our workshop so interesting and unique. Click here for the report.
June 2015 - Workshop Research Alumni
On 9 June 2015, about 45 international researchers and representatives of TUD administration met for a workshop and had heated discussions on these three issues:
- Service offers for international researchers at TUD and in the City of Dresden. What shall we improve from your point of view?
- Just imagine, you plan to leave Dresden. Which stimuli would make you stay in touch with the TUD and become a „TU Dresden Research Alumnus/a”?
- Due to current developments regarding an animosity against foreigners: Could you help us to brush up Dresden’s image abroad? If yes, how?
The workshop ended with many lasting impressions and fruitful outcomes, some of which will certainly be realised even in the near future.
June 2015 - Interdisciplinary networking at the midsummer campfire
Although we were two days late for a midsummer campfire, the team of the Project Scouts, the team of the Welcome Center of the TU Dresden, Angela Böhm (dual career service for newly appointed professors) and Maria Richter-Babekoff (International Office, Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences) invited you for an event in a communicative and beautiful atmosphere close to the Elbe riverside in Loschwitz. We aimed to give you the possibility to meet and network with colleagues of different research topics and backgrounds from Dresden. We were very happy to welcome almost 30 attendees from 14 different research areas and 9 different countries. We thank you for coming, for the interesting talks, open discussions and many questions. Due to the great feedback we are going to repeat the networking campfire idea.
July 2015 - IFTAR – open Ramadan fast break
Although we work together with many Muslims, we often know so little about their traditions. So we took the opportunity and experienced together the IFTAR, the dinner during the Ramadan. Our Muslim colleagues and friends invited us to come and share their Ramadan fast break after sun set! We enjoyed eating and drinking together and everybody got to know a little more about Muslim tradition and culture.

October 2015 - Workshop Civil Courage
In October 2015, a group of internationals and Germans participated in our workshop on Civil Courage. In the course of the workshop, everybody got the chance to share his or her experience with dangerous, sometimes even violent, situations and to try options of reacting appropriately. It was a very fruitful Saturday with lots of good ideas, alarming stories and emotional role plays.
