Successful completion of Dr. Philip Dittmann's habilitation process

On 16 April 2025, Dr. Philip Dittmann's scientific lecture and trial lecture took place as part of the habilitation procedure, following which the eight-member habilitation committee proposed to the School Committee that he be awarded the teaching qualification and authorization to teach. In the scientific lecture entitled "Contributions to the Study of Definable Sets in Fields", Dr. Dittmann described some of his highly regarded results in the field of model theory of solids. The sample lecture introduced the theory of quadratic forms and gave a proof of Witt's cancellation theorem. Dr. Dittmann was a Research Associate at the Institute of Algebra from 2019 to 2024 and is now a Lecturer at the University of Manchester.
