Appointment of Prof. Ellen Henke

On 1 August 2020, Professor Ellen Henke will take up a professorship at the Institute for Algebra. Her research area are finite groups. She has already made important contributions to a program that aims at a new proof of the classification of finite simple groups. She makes use of the concept of fusion systems and establishes connections to homotopy theory and the modular representation theory of finite groups.

Prof. Henke previously worked as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Aberdeen and previously carried out research at the Universities of Copenhagen and Birmingham.
