Appointment of Prof. Mario Kummer
Mario Kummer has been appointed to the Chair of Real Algebraic Geometry at the Institute of Geometry at TU Dresden. He has been serving as a Junior Professor there since 2020.
His field of research is real algebraic geometry. His research focuses on hyperbolic polynomials and the geometry of real algebraic curves. His work establishes connections to convex optimization, combinatorics, and topology.
Mario Kummer earned his Ph.D. in 2016 under the supervision of Claus Scheiderer at the University of Konstanz. He then conducted research at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Natural Sciences in Leipzig before taking on a Junior Professorship in computer algebra at the Technical University of Berlin in 2018. Since moving to Dresden in 2020, he has been engaged in research and teaching at the Institute of Geometry.
We are delighted that Mario Kummer will remain at the Institute and look forward to continuing our fruitful and pleasant collaboration!
