Summary of the First MINTGeo Training Day at TU Dresden
On September 14, 2026, the first MINTGeo professional development day took place at TU Dresden from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. To this end, the teaching methodology working groups from physics, mathematics, chemistry, biology, computer science, and geography joined forces and developed a diverse program for (prospective) teachers. Under the motto „Für die Zukunft lernen – Zukunft gestalten“ (Learning for the Future—Shaping the Future), the event focused on current issues in future-oriented education. Particular emphasis was placed on education for sustainable development, diversity, and digital literacy.
Junior Professor Dr. Moritz Ingwersen delivered an interdisciplinary and engaging keynote address on the conference theme titled “Which worlds world worlds. Global Education as Work on Critical Futures.”
In the 15 different workshops that followed, participants were able to learn about, try out, and discuss subject-specific and interdisciplinary teaching and learning approaches. The coffee breaks provided an opportunity for professional and interdisciplinary exchange. In addition, various publishers presented their current teaching and learning materials.
The organizers would like to once again thank the publishers Klett, Westermann, and Cornelsen, as well as the Förderverein für Mathematik zu Dresden e.V., for their financial support of refreshments during the breaks, and all the dedicated students, Research Associates, and participating teachers.
Interest was high: Around 120 teachers and student teachers participated to gain new inspiration for their teaching, exchange ideas, and jointly develop concepts for a future-oriented education.
Shaping the future begins with thinking together about education for tomorrow.
