Math and magic – do they go together?

Magic tricks are fascinating because something unexpected happens. Many areas of mathematics can therefore also be applied "magically" - whether algebra, combinatorics or stochastics. 

Ehrhard Behrends presents and explains a series of astonishing tricks, which can be understood with just a memory of school mathematics. And if you like, you can bring a deck of cards and something to write with and take an active part in the action yourself. The lecture will be held in German.

Ehrhard Behrends works with functional analysis and probability theory and is particularly interested in popularizing mathematics. He has been a member of the Magic Circle of Germany e. V. since 2015.

In conversation with Andreas Thom, he reveals more about his scientific career and his particular fondness for mathematical magic.
