The Chair of Applied Optimization focuses both on the application-oriented development of solution algorithms for optimization problems involving nonsmooth data and on basic research in the field of nonsmooth variational analysis. Our research results, which we achieve in collaboration with many different national and international partners, are published exclusively in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

In our student-centered teaching, we impart both fundamental mathematical knowledge in our teaching outreach as well as basic and advanced knowledge in the field of mathematical optimization to students in the Faculty of Mathematics. We also offer the latter a variety of topics for thesis projects.
