EXIST Business Start-up Grant for four early career scientists from the Faculty of Mathematics for the Fermat’s Last Trade project
Four early career scientists from the Faculty of Mathematics plan a spin-off with their Fermat’s Last Trade project.
The participants of the project are Assad Majid and Philipp Strietzel from the Institute of Mathematical Stochastics, Robert Bauer from the Institute of Numerical Mathematics and Dennis Wenzel from the Institute of Scientific Computing.
Prof. Dr. Martin Keller-Ressel from the Institute of Mathematical Stochastics is the academic mentor of the project.
Under the name of Fermat’s Last Trade the team is creating a mobile app to support private investors in choosing suitable investments based on both investments objectives – from solid, established corporations to newcomers with the potential for growth – as well as individual values such as sustainability, diversity and social justice. The user-friendly mobile app makes it possible to understand the information without prior knowledge, thus making investments in stocks transparent to everyone.
The Fermat’s Last Trade team will be funded by the EXIST Business Start-up Grant from October 2021 until September 2022. In order to develop a business plan and to get ready to start their businesses with the support of their university or research institute, each team receives a grant for the duration of twelve months which covers their costs of living and substantial costs of materials and equipment.
