“The Mass of Money” – Art Meets Mathematics, starting September 30, 2026
“The Mass of Money”: Exhibition on the Schaufler Residency Featuring the Faculty of Mathematics
What happens when you view the concentration of wealth as a physical phenomenon? The artist duo Quadrature (Juliane Götz and Sebastian Neitsch) explores this question in the exhibition *The Mass of Money *. Drawing on economic data, the duo translates capital flows and global inequality into cosmological imagery. Celestial bodies, galaxies, and black holes symbolize concentration, attraction, and the self-reinforcing dynamics of wealth.
The exhibition is the result of the six-month Schaufler Residency@TU Dresden 2026. During this time, Quadrature collaborated with researchers from the fields of Business Administration and Economics, Computer Science, and Mathematics, including Prof. Dr. Axel Voigt (Faculty of Mathematics, Institute of Scientific Computing). This collaboration also produced student works that are on view in the exhibition. They were created in the “Modeling Case Studies” module under the supervision of Prof. Voigt.
