Titel/Title: Implications of anisotropy in systems of interacting hard needles
Zusammenfassung/Abstract:
We investigate the effects of anisotropy on the diffusive transport behaviour of particles. Therefore, the diffusion of a needle-shaped particle in a mesh of point particles is investigated using an analytical derivation and Monte Carlo simulations. Furthermore, a system of two specific hard-core interacting needles, which differ in length, is considered and a nonlinear partial differential equation for the one-particle distribution function is derived. It is also shown that needles in systems with high rotational diffusion behave like discs with an effective diameter and whether the alignment occurs in the spatially homogeneous case and, if so, to what extent the system is affected. Finally, we look at how the system behaves if we fix one species in place, its length to 0 and the number of particles of the other species to 1 - corresponding to a needle-point interaction.
