Prof. Dr. Alexey Chernikov
Prof. Dr. Alexey Chernikov was appointed to TU Dresden in 2021 and conducts research at the Cluster of Excellence ct.qmat at the Chair of Ultrafast Microscopy and Photonics.
He obtained his doctoral degree at the University of Marburg (Germany) for the work on the optical properties of semiconducting materials and external cavity semiconducting lasers in 2012. In 2013, he was granted a Feodor-Lynen Fellowship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation to conduct his postdoctoral research on Coulomb phenomena in atomically-thin 2D systems in the group of Tony F. Heinz at Columbia University (New York, USA). Alexey was granted further awards and prizes:
- 2016 – Emmy-Noether (DFG) research group leader at the University of Regensburg
- 2018 – Heinz-Maier Leibnitz award of the DFG
- 2020 – ERC Consolidator Grant in 2020
