ERC Consolidator Grant for Elena Hassinger
Exciting News from IFMP:
Elena Hassinger Receives Prestigious ERC Consolidator Grant
We are thrilled to announce that Prof. Elena Hassinger of IFMP and ct.qmat, a distinguished low-temperature physicist, has been awarded a prestigious ERC Consolidator Grant. This is in fact already the second ERC Consolidator Grant secured for our institute since 2022, underscoring our strong commitment to cutting-edge research.
The European Research Council (ERC) has granted €2.7 million in funding to Prof. Hassinger, in order to push the boundaries of low-temperature physics forward. The new ERC-project will focus on the enigmatic properties of cerium-rhodium-arsenic (CeRh2As2), an unconventional superconductor that she discovered in 2021. This compound has captured the attention of the scientific community by exhibiting not one, but two superconducting states—a rarity in the world of quantum materials. Over the next five years, Prof. Hassinger's research in Dresden will delve into the mysteries of CeRh2As2 and explore similar quantum materials under extreme laboratory conditions. Her goal is to unlock the potential of these unconventional superconductors, with the ultimate aim of contributing to a breakthrough in topological quantum computing.
Congratulations, Elena! We wish you tremendous success in this new endeavor!!
