Seminars at IFMP
Institutseminar
Current research topics and the latest results from the IFMP research groups and research groups worldwide are presented at the institute seminar. The speakers present their new publications or unpublished measurements and invite detailed discussion.
Hauptseminar
For Master students, the IFMP offers advanced seminars from the research context of the institute. These seminars cover fundamental concepts of solid state and materials research as well as the latest developments. The topics are prepared by the students and presented in a 40-50 minute seminar talk. These are then discussed with the seminar participants.
During the preparation phase, you will be supported by lecturers from the institute. They will help you to define the topic precisely, support you in researching the literature and are available to answer questions about the seminar topic. In addition, we also support you in the methodology of presenting a complex topic in a seminar presentation:
How do I structure the presentation? Which audience do I address? How do I design clear slides that ideally convey my core topics, e.g. by presenting complicated contexts in a simplified yet comprehensive way? What do I explain on the individual slides and how do I create an ideal ratio of spoken and presented content?
In addition to the content of the seminar, participants also learn important presentation skills that they will need in later seminars, final presentations or conference contributions.
The seminars offered rotate between semesters and are continuously updated in the individual topics of the lectures.
The IFMP is currently offering the following Hauptseminar:
Elastic Tuning of Quantum Materials (Gati, Geck)
Seminarthemen aus früheren Semestern:
Quanteneffekte under extremen Bedingungen (Wosnitza, Stockert)
