Design of organic spintronic devices with organic ferromagnets
Organic spintronics is growing to be an attractive field in recent years, which is fascinating in the fabrication of cheap and soft spintronic devices. Organic ferromagnets (OFs) are particularly interesting in this field since they combine the advantages of both organics and ferromagnets, and thus have large potential in the design of new functional organic spintronic devices. Here we will introduce our theoretical designs for two kinds of organic spintronic devices based on OFs: One is the organic spin valve with a ferromagnet/OF/ferromagnet structure, where a multi-state magnetoresistance may be achieved by controlling the magnetization of the three layers. The other is the organic spin diode using an asymmetric magnetic co-oligomer structure. Two kinds of spin-current rectification will be displayed. By analyzing the rectification mechanism and the rectifying direction, we will demonstrate that an inversion of rectification may be realized by changing the molecular length or applying a gate voltage. At last, I will introduce my research plan in TUD as a Dresden fellow, mainly about spin Hall effect in organic materials.
