B01
This project explores material aspects of oxide and selected intermetallic frustrated magnets, with three central aims: (i) the synthesis of new materials with specific magnetic interactions leading to magnetic frustration, (ii) the exploration and optimization of single-crystal growth of frustrated magnets, and (iii) the investigation of electronic or impurity doping/substitution effects on magnetically frustrated materials allowing to map out electronic and magnetic phase diagrams. The focus will be on iridates, which are interesting due to their interplay of strong spin-orbit and electron-electron interactions, and on selected 3d transition-metal oxides with frustrated lattices.
