This experimental project is focused on electrical and thermal transport properties. In insulating frustrated magnets we will study the temperature and magnetic-field dependence of the low- temperature heat conductivity in order to obtain information about the nature, spectrum, and scattering properties of the spin excitations. Both charge and heat transport will be explored in itinerant systems, together with magneto-transport coefficients. Attention will be paid to potential transport contributions of topological surface states. In terms of materials, iridates will play a prominent role. Here we will also address the anisotropic transport of very small single crystals extracted from polycrystalline materials for which we will develop and apply lithographic contacting methods.
