This project will focus on calculating electronic, magnetic and topological properties of materials using density-functional and quantum-chemical methods. Specific material classes that will be considered are exchange-frustrated quantum magnets and geometrically frustrated metals with kagome lattices. The calculated band structures, topological invariants, Berry curvature, magnetic ordering, spin-spin, and spin-orbit interactions will serve as a basis for the further development of material-oriented many-particle models and effective Hamiltonians.
