Bühler TalksM. Kliegel: From lab to life: Multidomain cognitive training across the lifespan
Université de Genève
Abstract
In the last decades, research in social and behavioral sciences across multiple disciplines has seen a growing interest in methods to maintain and enhance cognitive functioning across the lifespan. Besides strategy training, process-based cognitive training has become one of the most popular and extensively researched intervention approaches. However, despite initially promising results, it has become evident that significant improvements in trained tasks often yield limited or inconsistent transfer effects on untrained tasks and everyday functioning. In response, in recent years a growing interest in integrating various training regimes to enhance cognitive functioning could be observed. The present talk will present several examples of such integrative interventions from our research team, including metacognitive approaches and musical interventions, targeting different populations from children to older adults as well as clinical and other vulnerable populations (e.g., adults in unemployment).
