Finding Your Way on Campus
Table of contents
Even though the TU Dresden campus is quite large and branch offices are spread all over the city, most of the psychology studies happen on a relatively small area in a handful of buildings on Zellescher Weg. The Campus Navigator helps you find your way around.
Studies
Andreas-Schubert-Bau (ASB)
The Andreas-Schubert-Bau is one of the most important buildings for "Psychos", because almost all lectures take place here. There are two large lecture halls, ASB 120 and ASB E28. In addition, the biopsychology department is located here, among others, and there are laboratories for computer experiments in the basement.
Seminargebäude (SE1/SE2)
The Seminargebäude building has two wings, SE1 and SE2. Note: The two wings each have their own room numbers, so for example there are both SE1 101 and SE2 101, which are in the same building, but in different wings.
In Seminar Building 2, the right wing as seen from Zellescher Weg, there are, as the name suggests, several seminar rooms. In addition, the PC pools and especially important: the FSR office SE2 120 are located here.
In the left wing, the SE1, there are even more seminar rooms, which are mainly used for language training, because the LSK (Learning Center Language and Culture) is also located here.
PC-Pool
In two rooms of SE2 (101; 121) there are modern computers where you can work with e.g. SPSS or MatLab. More information about the PC-Pools
Saxon State and University Library Dresden (SLUB)
As a central library, the SLUB is home to many departments, including psychology. Many psychological databases can be accessed free of charge via the SLUB. All information about registration is available at https://www.slub-dresden.de/
The SLUB has a green roof and invites you to linger and relax on deck chairs which are free to use.
Bürogebäude Zellescher Weg (BZW)
Among other things, seminar rooms are located in the office building BZW . In addition, the chair of Methods of Psychology and Cognitive Modeling, the chair of Work and Organizational Psychology, the chair of Differential and Personality Psychology and the chair of General Psychology are located here.
Hörsaalzentrum (HSZ)
The HSZ is mainly used for lectures with lots of listeners, e.g. lectures of the Chair of Psychology of Learning and Instruction, which are also attended by teacher trainees. The Audimax with its 977 seats is also located in the HSZ - the largest lecture hall at TU Dresden.
Falkenbrunnen (FAL)
The Falkenbrunnen is located outside the main campus and can be reached by bus or bicycle in about 15 minutes from the main campus. Seminars and lectures of the master's program KPP are mainly held here. In addition, the Testothek is located here, where a variety of psychological tests and questionnaires can be borrowed free of charge, as well as the Neuroimaging Center (NIC) with our own research MRI.
Canteens and Cafeterias (Mensa, plural: Mensen)
The cafeterias of the Studentenwerk Dresden (Student Union) provide you with culinary delights at low prices. You can get an overview of all the offers here, and there are also numerous apps for your smartphone.
Siedepunkt
In addition to teaching, research and administration, there is also food at the BZW. Downstairs in the building is the Mensa Siedepunkt, which not only serves food on weekends, but also offers evening meals, which is perfect after a long day of studying at the SLUB. The cafeteria also serves coffee, cake and snacks in the afternoon. In addition to sufficient indoor seating, there is also an outdoor area.
Zeltschlösschen
The Zeltschlösschen offers a wide range of food and is particularly great for those looking for something vegan. Especially the noodle bar - you pay for the plate, not the amount of noodles 😉 - is very popular. In summer, you can escape the hustle and bustle indoors and make yourself comfortable outside under the trees. Here, too, there is an additional cafeteria with a sofa area.
BioMensa U-Boot
All ingredients of the meals and drinks offered here come exclusively from organic production. There are 2 complete meals daily (one vegetarian), plus salads, soups, as well as hot and cold snacks, cakes and pastries, and sandwiches. Not only with the offer, but also with the interior design the refectory visitors can expect something special. In keeping with the name "submarine", guests dive down the entrance stairs into the atmosphere of an underwater world. This is where the new serving counter with an open kitchen is located. As soon as guests enter the hallway, they reach the "beach area." The blue seating and wooden benches were reinstalled and integrated into the new design concept. In the summer months, the terrace on George-Bähr-Straße invites guests to enjoy a meal under the trees.
Alte Mensa
The Alte Mensa awaits your visit with an extremely rich menu. Every day there are 3 complete dishes, one of which is vegetarian/vegan. In addition, there is always fresh sushi, casseroles, a pasta and salad bar, desserts and cakes. In the summer, there are also frequent barbecues. Rumor has it that the largest portions are served here.
Mensa Reichenbachstraße
The Mensa Reichenbachstraße is located between the campus of HTW Dresden and TU Dresden. On the first and 2nd floor there are spacious bright dining halls, which were completely renovated in 2021. On the mezzanine floor there is another smaller hall with a roof terrace. The Mensa is not only popular at lunchtime - the Club Mensa on the 3rd floor regularly hosts semester parties and concerts.
Additional Canteens and Cafeterias
The Studentenwerk Dresden also operates cafeterias at the TUD's external locations, for example in Tharandt, Zittau, Görlitz and Bautzen. https://www.studentenwerk-dresden.de/mensen/mensen_cafeterien.html
