Our research focus
„Wir hätten keine Möglichkeit den Zustand Stress abzuschätzen, gäbe es nicht die Veränderungen die er hervorruft“ Hans Selye (1936) ("We would not be able to estimate the state of stress if there were not the changes it causes" )
It is hard to imagine everyday life without the term stress and it is becoming more and more important. Contrary to earlier assumptions, these are by no means unspecific changes in the organism, but rather targeted reactions to experienced events. Depending on the type and duration of the stressor, we observe a wide range of psychological and physiological changes, ranging from beneficial adaptation to a specific situation to chronic pathological disorders.
The research focus of our research group is the topic of stress, which is examined in a large number of different projects. Here, different disciplines such as cognitive, neurocognitive, differential and clinical psychology, endocrinology, immunology, neurology, genetics and epigenetics are combined in different questions. In addition to numerous established methods for the recording and induction of psychological and physiological changes and states, new methods are developed and evaluated.
