I studied Psychology (B.Sc.) at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg and Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy (M.Sc.) at Technische Universität Dresden. My academic journey began with a Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Medicine, which provided me with a foundational understanding of biological mechanisms. In my master’s thesis, I investigated the potential influence of moderate negative childhood life events on the developmental course of orbitofrontal thickness throughout adolescence and its potential link to depression in young adulthood. Currently, I am pursuing clinical training to become a licensed psychotherapist (cognitive behavioral therapy).
My research interests focus on the neural foundations of perception and cognition, particularly in individuals with neurodiverse perceptual processes, who often face challenges in a neurotypical world.
Shaped by my interdisciplinary background in psychology and molecular medicine, my research focuses on bridging the gap between the neural foundations of perceptual processes and their manifestation in behavior and experience.
Key areas of focus include:
- Subcortical processing of visual stimuli using functional MRI (fMRI): Investigating the role of the lateral geniculate nucleus (LGN) in modulating visual perception.
- Sensory overload in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD): Exploring how atypical visual processing contributes to sensory overload and its behavioral consequences in individuals with ASD.
