Short biosketch
Franka Glöckner currently represents the Chair of Behavioral Psychotherapy at the TU Dresden. Previously, she worked at the TU Dresden as a postdoctoral researcher at the Chair of Lifespan Developmental Neuroscience and as a principal investigator (PI) in the DFG Collaborative Research Centre SFB-940. In addition, Franka Glöckner was the primarily responsible psychologist in the memory clinic of the academic teaching hospital Elblandklinikum Radebeul, where she maintains a supervisory role. She is a board-licensed psychotherapist (CBT) for adults and a certified person-centered counselor. Franka Glöckner is also a trainer for Good Scientific Practice (GSP) and a faculty representative for psychology students with disabilities and chronic diseases as well as for high school student internships.
Franka Glöckner studied psychology at the University of Konstanz and completed her doctorate there in 2012 in the field of ageing and dementia research. From 2007 to 2012, she worked as a lecturer and researcher at the University of Konstanz and the University of Ulm (including in projects funded by the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities, the DFG and the EU).
Research interests
In her research, Franka Glöckner is particularly interested in ageing, including neurocognitive plasticity (focus on memory and cognitive control), mental and neurocognitive disorders, and neuromodulatory and behavioral intervention in older age. Her clinical interests lie in particular in the areas of psychotherapy in older age and dementia research, but also in the effects of (traumatic) stress on mental and neurocognitive health across the lifespan.
