Rita is a PhD candidate in Philipp Kanske’s ERC grant project "INTERACT". She completed a Liberal Arts and Science degree at Amsterdam University College and a BSc and MSc of Psychology and Neuroscience at the University of Vienna. In addition to her academic education she has volunteered, interned and worked in various care and research institutions including the fields of neuropsychology, pediatric oncology, animal-assisted psychotherapy, virtual reality and methods for psychology. The most profound experience was her research assistance at the Medical University of Vienna where she supported an interdisciplinary psychosocial research team in various studies on the standardiation of evidence-based care for childhood cancer patients, including patients with the genetics disorder Neurofibromatosis type 1. For her PhD project she want to focus on the examination of structural connectivity and white matter integrity and how it related to socio-cognitive abilities, especially empathy and theory of mind.
