New article on enhancing children’s sharing behavior through prosocial video games
A recent article by Yan Li, Tao Deng, Matthew David Thurston and Philipp Kanske examined the effect of prosocial video game exposure on sharing behavior in preschool children, testing the mediating role of empathy as well as the moderating roles of age and gender. The researchers show that playing prosocial video games promotes children's sharing behavior. Empathy training programs, especially those that develop affective empathy, may be an effective means of promoting sharing behavior in children. Girls and older children may be particularly well suited target groups for sharing behavior education programs that aim to increase empathy when playing prosocial video games.
