The work of the Chair of Addiction Research covers one of the major challenges of our time, namely the abuse and dependence of alcohol, illicit drugs, psychotropic medicaments and tobacco as well as pathological gambling and other pathological forms of excessive behavior.

Our focus
Our comprehensive research program, mainly basic research, addresses the key issues of etiology, course, and cessation of dependent behavior. For students, we provide a broad curriculum as well as attractive opportunities for masters and doctoral theses.
