What ESADD offers
Three two-year ESADD courses have been successfully taken place, the last one finishing in 2016. During the seminar weeks, ESADD provided participants with an advanced educational experience, covering state-of-the-art science in addiction research, e.g. aetiology, neurobiology, disease patterns, epidemiology, prevention, treatment, Public Health and policy aspects as well as the training of academic skills:
- State-of-the-art academic knowledge on SU and SUD
- Research methodology
- Current research trends and controversies (e.g. pathological gambling)
- Publishing guidelines and ethical standards
- Academic skills (Paper writting, presentations, reviews, poster design and presentation)
- Discussion of participants' PhD/MD theses
The programme combines four one-week on-campus seminars in Dresden, Germany, one seminar in Amsterdam, Netherlands (Prof. Wim van den Brink) and one in Barcelona, Spain (Prof. Marta Torrens), as well as homework and an internship in a self-chosen research institute. ESADD students will participate in the ESADD seminar weeks but continue to stay and work at their current post.
