An important day for the Smart Mobility Lab:
The topping-out ceremony was celebrated on October 15 – a symbol of the visible progress of the construction project.
Together with representatives from science, business and politics, including Saxony's Minister President Michael Kretschmer, we celebrated this symbolic progress of the construction project. During his visit, the Minister President gave a speech, followed by greetings from the Rector of TU Dresden, Ursula Staudinger, and the Lord Mayor, Torsten Ruban-Zeh. Jan-Hendrik Goldbeck, Managing Director of GOLDBECK GmbH, also took part in the topping-out ceremony and emphasized the importance of joint innovative strength for the success of the project in his welcoming address.
The topping-out speech was then read out and the topping-out wreath was raised – a traditional moment that solemnly marked the progress of the construction work.
With an investment volume of over 86 million euros, funded by the Federal and State governments, the SML not only stands for technological innovation, but also for sustainability and structural change in Lusatia. The impressive driving and flight test hall (approx. 42 m high, ~1 ha area) will be a beacon project for future-oriented mobility research in the future.
A big thank you to all those who are contributing to the realization of this vision with their commitment, expertise and enthusiasm!
