"Entwicklung von schüler:innenzentrierten Lehr-Lernformaten an der Universitätsschule Dresden" – anthology from the real-world laboratory published
Springer-Verlag has published a book entitled “Entwicklung von schüler:innenzentrierten Lehr-Lernformaten an der Universitätsschule Dresden” (Development of student-centered teaching and learning formats at Dresden University School). In nine articles, the authors address a wide range of aspects of this school trial, which is unique in Germany.
This volume shows how newly developed teaching and learning formats that focus on project work and self-regulated learning are responding to the increasing heterogeneity of students. The example of the University School Dresden (USD) illustrates how academic and school stakeholders, as well as a (digital) school organization, are geared toward enabling student-centered learning. The contributions describe the collaborative development of project work, the co-constructive control of teaching development, the support provided by digital media, and the implementation based on the design-based research approach. In addition, the evaluation using standardized procedures and the applied research data management are described and critically examined.
Following the editorial, Anke Langner and Marlis Pesch show how individual and social regulation of learning processes can be supported in project-based teaching. Anke Langner, Marlis Pesch, and Matthias Ritter describe how design-based research is used as a method in project work. Matthias Ritter, Anke Langner, and Anna Weigel address the question of how teaching development functions as a co-constructive process of scientific and school management in the Dresden school experiment. Hannah Bartels, Wiebke Bergjürgen, and Anke Langner then present vignettes as a research approach at the USD. Christoph Haßler, Marlis Pesch, and Matthias Ritter discuss the results of standardized learning assessments and their significance for the development of new teaching and learning formats in the following article. Wiebke Bergjürgen, Ralf Michael Christoph, and Anke Langner present how data-driven school development is implemented at the University School. Matthias Ritter and Anke Langner present research data management at the University School Research Center (ForUS) at TU Dresden.
The articles by scientific director Anke Langner and the staff of the University School Research Center (ForUS) are followed by a concluding article presenting the project work in secondary level II by Anke Langner, school principal Maxi Heß, and members of the extended school management team Pia Helbing and Sebastian Bruntsch.
