Action plan of the month III: Evaluation of courses
Course evaluation is an important tool for continuously improving the quality of studies and teaching at our university. As part of the sTUDies 3.0 teaching strategy, an action plan has been developed to strengthen course evaluations and increase their response rate. The aim is to further improve the quality management of our university and to jointly sharpen the understanding of good teaching.
By the end of 2025, the evaluation questionnaire at TU Dresden shall be adapted so that it contains two blocks in the future:
- Block A (standardized part) enables university-wide comparisons and contains the same questions for all courses
- Block B (customizable part) can be adapted and aims to provide more meaningful results, so that teachers have the opportunity to examine specific aspects of their course in a targeted manner.
The evaluation of courses with its questionnaires is a key tool for the further development of teaching quality. Feedback from students enables teachers to further develop their teaching methods, content and presentation techniques. Evaluations also give students a voice and the feeling that they are actively contributing to shaping their education. They create transparency about the quality of teaching, promote dialog between teachers and students and thus help to adapt courses and teaching development to the changing needs and expectations of students.
The revision of the course evaluation is planned by the end of 2025. Anyone interested can find the complete action plan in the section "What changes does quality management require?".
