At the intersection of science, politics, and practice

The Alumnus of the Month for July is a specialist in Environmental Sciences. At CIPSEM, Dr. Adedoyin Adeleke completed the International Short Course in Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency. For decades, the institution has provided advanced training for leaders from the Global South. Course instructor Dr. Anna Görner said, “It’s remarkable how many alumni say that the course they took helped them take on more responsibility. The course very often serves as a stepping stone.” This was also the case for Dr. Adeleke, who is now the Managing Director of Green Growth Africa, a sustainability network for green growth in Africa. In addition, as a fellow of the UNESCO Chair in Energy for Sustainable Development at the Politecnico di Milano in Italy, he contributes to research and development projects.

Reflecting on his time in Dresden, he says: “My fondest memory is the CIPSEM team, the opportunity to meet a diverse community of experts from various countries around the world. We have remained friends to this day, despite being thousands of kilometers apart.”
