April’s Alumnus of the Month Comes From Biomedicine
The series "Alumni of the Month" is introducing a new format to feature our TUD Alumni. Here you will find detailed portraits, as well as film clips and interviews. These are titled, "Give Me Five+!" - Discover what you always wanted to know about our TUD Alumni."
In this "2 x 5 Question" format, our participants explain how they came to TUD, what their experiences on campus were like, what advice they give to prospective students, and where/what their responsibilities are today.
Kicking off this series is Dr. Carlos Chacón Martínez. He graduated from the Carl Gustav Carus School of Medicine, and is now CEO and co-founder of Niostem.
He was intrigued by the Center for Basic Biomedical Research's synergy with other interdisciplinary institutions, the international prominence of its teaching faculty, and PhD programs such as DIPP. "The infrastructure and equipment are among the best in Germany. All this makes TU Dresden, and Dresden itself, one of the most important centers for biomedical research worldwide. The fact that I was able to do my doctorate there was a privilege," he says.
