The March Alumnus of the Month
“The early 1990s were a period of political upheaval, and East Germany was the epicenter of rapid and dramatic change in Europe,” says Tasos Costeas, offering a reason for his fascination with Dresden as a place to study. He moved here from Cyprus to study Political Science and History. TU Dresden was a place of openness and acceptance, which is why he has remained a dedicated TUD regional ambassador for many years. It is his mission to help young people recognize the importance of studying abroad. And his work goes in both directions – from Dresden to Cyprus and from Cyprus to Dresden. “International cooperation, intercultural exchange, and multilingualism build the most important framework for all action,” he says. He was recently appointed Chairman of the Cyprus Peace Council and is involved in a movement that promotes bringing Greek and Turkish Cypriots together in peace and harmony.
