Headache Prevention
Headache Prevention for Students and Young Adults
In Germany, about two-thirds of students suffer from headaches. It’s high time for a change!
Although students and young adults are generally considered a relatively healthy demographic, headaches and symptoms potentially related to tension headaches—such as back, shoulder, or neck pain—are reported with striking frequency. “Incorrect” strategies for dealing with stress are often a trigger—which can lead to a loss of motivation and declining performance in academic or professional life.
"Headache Hurts" Guide
But it doesn’t have to come to that. The resources from the “Headache Hurts” program show you what you can do to combat headaches and migraines:
The “Headache Hurts” guide provides readers with scientifically sound information on the most common headache disorders and how to prevent them. Over 60 pages, readers learn about the physiological processes underlying headaches and how to effectively prevent them from occurring in daily life. A quick test helps identify the type of headache the person is likely suffering from, and a headache calendar allows them to document their symptoms in preparation for a doctor’s visit.

App
The “Headache Hurts” app, certified as a medical device, provides personalized support for the long-term prevention of headaches. It allows users to document relevant behaviors on a daily basis and clearly highlights areas where improvements are possible. To do this, the app analyzes users’ entries and, upon request, reminds them of effective preventive measures. By exporting headache entries in the form of a “doctor’s report,” it helps healthcare providers make an accurate diagnosis. All user data is stored permanently and exclusively on the mobile device.
Webinar Series
The “Headache Hurts” webinar series consists of two 45-minute presentations that cover the basics of preventing the most common headache disorders. Presentation I examines the causes of migraine attacks and explains the physiological basis for successful prevention. Lecture II focuses on the causes of tension-type headaches and their prevention. The advisors will present resources that have been proven to effectively support headache prevention. Questions can be submitted and answered via email.
