How can you as a school or teacher support young people on their path to university?
Get to know and make the most of our studies and career orientation services at TU Dresden and our partner institutions. Our programs are held either online or in person at TU Dresden’s campus, on our partner institutions’ premises or even at your school. Please contact us – we look forward to hearing from you.
Expedition Campus – Discover the Uni
Expedition Campus gives school pupils a taste of university life. They can talk to current university students, browse the programs on offer at the university and get to know our research facilities. Your visit to TU Dresden can be tailored to your pupils’ interests and the time you have planned for it, lasting anywhere from just a few hours to an entire day. We have put together several modules with possible plans for you to choose from.

MINT-EC Schools
TU Dresden strives to financially support pupils interested in STEM subjects (“MINT” in German) and has thus been part of the MINT-EC network for many years.
The point of contact for schools at TU Dresden offers regular (digital) events for pupils. School pupils also have the opportunity to receive a MINT-EC scholarship from TU Dresden. We invite teachers from MINT-EC schools in Saxony to TU Dresden twice a year to exchange knowledge and experiences.

Laboratory tours
Research, review, test – TU Dresden labs are working hard on solutions for a brighter future. Upon request, school groups will be led through various laboratories at TU Dresden’s faculties and institutes. The point of contact for schools at TU Dresden will be happy to forward your inquiries to the appropriate institutions.
Science for school classes
What are researchers at TU Dresden working on? In live presentations streamed straight to your classroom, TU Dresden researchers explain their work on the energy transition, food 4.0 or houses made from carbon concrete. Give your advanced classes a glimpse into the diversity of engineering sciences by inviting a researcher from the Faculty of Mechanical Science and Engineering or the Faculty of Transport Engineering to your school. Whether in person in your classroom or live on video straight from the lab, researchers will be happy to present their current research and answer your questions. To request a visit, please email email the point of contact for schools.

Academic writing
Support from TU Dresden:
1. TU Dresden’s Writing Center has its own website that answers questions such as “What is an academic text?” and “How do you write an academic text?” The website also explains the structure of academic texts in detail and provides many helpful tips.
2. Researchers take on the task of supervising complex and extraordinary learning achievements. You will find an overview of the supervisors here.
More recommended resources:
The Saxon State and University Library (SLUB) offers online courses all year round. You do not need a SLUB or OPAL account to make use of these.
The following online courses in German can make the jump to writing university-level academic texts easier:
“From an idea to a research paper: an introduction to academic writing for pupils”, A plague on plagiarism! What, why and how to cite references?! and
Recording, managing and citing literature – basic knowledge of literature management programs.
Trade fairs, info events and presentations at your school
We would be happy to support your career orientation trade fair with presentations on the study options available at TU Dresden as well as our individual departments on request.
CeTI module/Artificial intelligence – modules for classes based on your curriculum
The Center for Tactile Internet with Human-in-the-Loop (CeTI) Cluster of Excellence currently offers six digital modules for school classes based on Saxony’s curriculum. The modules were developed by scientists and education specialists for pupils in various grades. In live sessions, the children can discuss solutions for topics and issues of digitalization. They also have the opportunity to learn programming basics and apply them to design their own mobile game. CeTI uses these methods to bring new technology into the (virtual) classroom and strengthen students’ technological comfort and skills. The modules are designed to last for 90 minutes, but they can be adjusted as needed.
You can find more information about the modules here.
Student initiatives
The working group “Studieninformation mal anders” (“New perspectives for prospective students”) is a conglomeration of students from various areas of study at TU Dresden who offer first-hand information to school pupils to facilitate their choice of degree program. The current students visit school classes or hold online presentations and discussions to give insight into their degree programs and student life at TU Dresden.
More information about the working group
The working group was formed as part of the Deutschlandstipendium scholarship network. Students receive funding for both subject-related and social engagement.
In addition to our services and programs for school groups, TU Dresden offers a range of individualized study orientation services for promoting talents. We kindly encourage you to pass on this information to your pupils.
