The peer mentoring program supports you as you start your studies. Experienced TU Dresden students - mentors - accompany you with tips and guidance during the introductory phase of your studies.
If you are new to the university, you probably have a lot of questions on your mind: Which courses do I have to take? How do I make connections in my new environment? What are credit points actually? What does a Faculty Student Council do? And: How do I organize my student life between the lecture hall and the student pub? Don't worry, you're not alone - many others feel the same way.
The peer mentoring service will help you settle in at university. Experienced volunteer students from TU Dresden - mentors - will support you with tips and guidance.
Mentoring is a supportive relationship between two people who are at different levels of experience. An experienced person (mentor) supports another person (mentee) for a clearly defined period of time, enabling them to benefit from their experience. Mentoring is a voluntary and personal exchange relationship between two people that relates to a specific task or goal.
The term "mentor" comes from Greek mythology. Before Odysseus set off on his journey to Troy, he asked Mentor to accompany and support his son Telemachus.
You can participate if you are a student in the Orientation Program and be interested in individual support from a student mentor.
The mentors are experienced students who have arrived at university, have already mastered a number of challenges and would now like to share their knowledge with you. In the so-called "matching process", we find a student from your desired degree program who fits you.

- You have a contact person at eye level and can exchange ideas in a confidential, protected space.
- You regularly reflect on your study situation and can exchange ideas.
- You will get to know the "mentoring" format and can later become a mentor yourself and support other students.
The program takes place in the summer semesters each lasts one semester.
