Study requirements
Necessary documentation:
• A degree in Biology or Medicine, or a comparable qualification
• Proficiency in English (IELTS: level 6.5 or TOEFL 92 points for the online test) Applicants whose mother tongue is English are exempt from this obligation to provide proof.
• Sound knowledge of key biological principles and fundamental knowledge in molecular and cell biology.
Aptitude is evaluated in an assessment interview.

Step 1: Online application for the degree program
- Please visit the online application page once the application period has started.
- After answering the questions in the application section, you will be guided to the corresponding application portal.
- After you have entered your data, you need to submit your online application.
- You will then be asked to print out your cover letter with your application number.
Step 2: Application for the Aptitude assessment or NC selection procedure
For your application for the aptitude test or selection procedure required for your degree programme, you must send the following documents to the address below within the specified period. Once you have submitted the online application, we will let you know how (by post or email) and by what date the documents need be submitted to us. Please be advised that your application number from the online application is included in your application documents.
Required documents
a) General documents
• your online application - filled in and signed
• Copy of the higher education entrance qualification (usually Abitur certificate); if available, certificate of the higher education entrance examination (copy of the original and the translation in either German or English)
• Officially certified copy of the original and officially certified translation (German or English) of the degree certificate of the required first university degree. If the first university degree is not yet available: Confirmation from the first university that at least 80% of the work required for the current university degree programme has been completed, as well as information on the current average grade for degree programmes with entry restrictions (form on the Admissions Office website)
• Certificate of enrolment of the last semester studied, stating the semester of study
• If you are not yet enrolled at TU Dresden, a certificate of your academic achievements from your previous university stating all courses of study including semesters
• Copy of passport (for international applicants)
• Original certificate of the Academic Evaluation Centre of the German Embassy (APS) for Chinese and Vietnamese applicants
b) Special degree-specific documents
• Online registration on the website of the course of study
• Proof of English language skills
• CV in tabular form (in English)
• Two letters of recommendation either in English or German, preferably by university professors
• Appropriate documents and certificates to prove the particular expertise required
