Part-time and distance learning at TU Dresden
At TU Dresden, it is currently possible to pursue part-time studies in all TU Dresden distance-learning courses, as well as in many direct study courses. If you would like to know in what undergraduate or advanced direct study courses part-time courses exist, please consult the Student Information System and select the corresponding study form in the search field. The current offer will then be listed.
Part-time studies may be interesting for students who need to reconcile their studies with family obligations, provide nursing care for family members or are themselves health- impaired.
Please note the following rules if you would like to take up a part-time study course:
- During the part-time study course, the regular study period and the examination periods are doubled, according to Article 35 paragraphs 3 to 5 of the Saxon Higher Education Act. Article 2 § 4 of the Saxon Higher Education Act, as well as the processing times of study assignments and examinations remain unaffected.
- In a part-time semester, only 50% of the scheduled examinations of the full time study course can be taken.
- Semester or tuition fees are to be paid in full each semester in the part-time course.
- The Amt für Ausbildungsförderung (Office for Educational Support) currently does not support part-time studies with study grants and loans in the framework of BAföG (German Federal Training Assistance Act).
- If necessary, a change into part-time studies is also possible in higher semesters. The change has to be requested within the deadlines at the Admissions Office / International Office.
The regulations for part-time studies contain further specifications, rules and regulations.
Before applying, it is generally recommended to require information at the Central Student Information and Counselling Services and the Admissions Office / International Office on whether an enrolment in part-time studies is beneficial.
