In August, the new "MOBIbike" bike sharing system will be launched in Dresden. The system operated by nextbike and DVB replaces the previous system "sz-bike". With the new system the number of bikes in Dresden doubles to 1,000 bikes. With 7 gears, riding uphill and downhill will be more comfortable in the future. The bikes can be rented and returned at 14 MOBIpoints, on return roads and in a new flex zone. The locations and return modalities can be found at https://www.nextbike.de/de/dresden/. In the flexzone shown in pink on the map, it is possible to return the bikes for an extra charge of 1 €. In the streets marked in blue and at the MOBIpoints, return is possible everywhere free of charge. If you return your bike at MOBIpoints, you will even be credited with a 10 minutes' travel credit. For students of Dresden's universities the tariffs will not change for the time being. Students cycle the first 60 minutes of each ride on their MOBIbike free of charge (even several times a day). Each additional half hour costs 0.50 euros; the maximum amount is 5.00 euros for 24 hours.  For employees with a DVB monthly pass or job ticket, the first 30 minutes of each ride are free of charge and each additional half hour costs 1 euro. The new system will start on Monday 17.08.2020. During the period from Monday 10.08. to Sunday 16.08. no rentals are possible.
