Everyday life on campus

Sustainable campus life
The campus is a place for learning, teaching and working, but also a habitat for animal and plant species. In recent years, various measures for sustainable campus development have been initiated. A number of environmentally friendly offers are now available to make campus life more sustainable.
Dining halls and cafeterias
You want an organic meal for lunch? In the organic canteen "U-Boot" only organic food is being served. It is located in the basement of the Potthoff-Bau. Vegetarian meals are also offered in other dining halls. These meals mean less resource consumption and emissions, are healthy and reduce animal suffering. For a small snack, fair-trade chocolate is available in almost all dining halls and cafeterias. For the hot drink to-go ask for the reusable MensaCup to avoid unnecessary waste.
Bike repair stations
A tire or your bike is flat or a screw needs to be fixed? For the quick repair of your bike, pump and repair stations are available in front of the HSZ and the campus office "Uni mit Kind". Larger repairs can also be done at the self-help workshop Rad i.O. in Wundtstraße.

Makerspace
In the Makerspace at Drepunct, the tools can be used for your own DIY projects and creative ideas. It is also a place for exchange with others. Among other things, 3D printing, laser cutting and photo technology are available.
TU-Was-Pfad - The highway to health
On the campus sports path you can easily keep fit. Four training machines for strength and balance exercises are available here.
Tree sponsorships
Since 2018, there has been a tree sponsorship offered by TU Dresden. The program has been initiated by the student environmental initiative tuuwi and is managed by the Environmental Protection Group. Who would like to donate a tree for the campus? Get in touch and provide for more green on campus!
Insect friendly meadows
Starting in 2017, measures were established to manage meadows in an insect-friendly way. The aim is to contribute to the preservation of weakened insect populations and to promote biodiversity on campus. In the meantime, 2.4 hectares of meadow areas are maintained in an insect-friendly way and several bee colonies live at Bergstraße 69.
Bird habitats
In order to provide a better environment for birds and bats living on campus, many new nesting boxes were installed on buildings. Also construction measures were conducted in a bird-friendly way. Highlights include the kestrel boxes in Schumann-Bau and Fritz-Forester-Bau which already the first kestrel populations used for breeding.
