The Active Recruitment Service Unit supports TU Dresden’s faculties and appointment committees with a comprehensive range of tools, formats, and strategies to identify top talent, enhance diversity in appointment processes, and strengthen the university’s international visibility as an employer of choice.

1. Strategic Consulting and Process Support

Designing appointment processes with a strategic perspective

• Expert consulting on Active Recruitment throughout all phases of the appointment process

• Guidance on crafting competency-based job advertisements

• Support in developing requirement-driven professorship profiles based on role descriptions and/or functional analyses

2. Tools and Formats for Outreach and Visibility

Engaging and inspiring talent worldwide

• Execution of online recruitment campaigns to expand the global reach and visibility of professorship vacancies

• Assistance with researching and proactively approaching promising scholars worldwide using specialized tools and platforms

• Development of multilingual, structured messaging frameworks to facilitate direct outreach to prospective candidates

• Use of analytical tools to identify key academic communities and networks

3. Quality Assurance in the Selection Process

Ensuring fair and competency-based appointment procedures

• Support for appointment committees through structured interview guides and competency-based evaluation tools

• Workshops and training sessions to minimize bias and foster equitable decision-making in appointment processes

• Ongoing professional development for committee members via the “Competency Compass” series, addressing critical aspects of appointment procedures

4. Talent Acquisition through Funding Programs

Attracting exceptional scholars early on

• Advisory on leveraging TU Dresden’s funding program GET TU KNOW, which supports faculties and central academic institutions in engaging promising researchers—ideally even before formal appointment procedures. The program provides an opportunity to present TU Dresden as an excellent employer and Dresden as a vibrant science hub with an outstanding quality of life.
