University-wide inaugural lecture: Prof. Hagen B. Huttner
Prof. Hagen B. Huttner.
On January 15, 2026, Prof. Dr. Hagen B. Huttner, Professor of Neurology at the Carl Gustav Carus Faculty of Medicine, will give his university-wide inaugural lecture on "Studying adult neurogenesis in humans: insights from 14C-radiocarbondating and 15N-thymidine methodology".
Prof. Huttner took over as Head of the Department of Neurology at the University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus Dresden in February 2025. His clinical and scientific focus is on the care of stroke patients and research into neuroregeneration and the formation of new nerve cells. His research methods suggest that nerve cell formation exists in the healthy and diseased central nervous system. He thus challenges the long-held dogma that there is no neuronal regeneration in the adult human brain.
The lecture and the subsequent discussion will be held in English.
Afterwards, the get-together offers an opportunity to get to know each other.
