Data Protection Declaration

1) General regulations

With the exception of the data mentioned in points I and II, no data is collected on visitors to the webpages that could lead to conclusions about a natural person.

If personal data is to be collected on a webpage of TU Dresden (e.g. when registering for an event), informed, comprehensive and transparent consent is always requested in advance and in each individual case.

When accessing webpages in the internal area or those requiring a login, which are only accessible for members and associate members of TU Dresden, personal data is processed by TUD using the Shibboleth-Procedure This, however, is only carried out after receiving the explicit consent of the members of the closed user-group (members, associate members and guests of TU Dresden) and only for the purpose of authentication of the respective user.

If TU Dresden processes personal data in individual cases on its webpages, each affected party can, at any time, request information about the data processed that concerns them directly, as well as the possible recipients of this data to whom it was transmitted. Information must be provided by TU Dresden within one month of receiving a request.

We have taken all necessary and appropriate technical and organisational measures to ensure that the data protection regulations within Technische Universität Dresden can be observed. If, however, you are concerned that your data protection rights have been infringed upon by TU Dresden, the Data Protection Officer of TU Dresden or the Saxon Data Protection Officer is available as the first point of contact for complaints.

We would like to point out that data transmission on the internet, particularly via email, is essentially unsecure. It is not guaranteed that transmitted data can be viewed or possibly even falsified by unauthorised persons.

II) Cookies

II) CookiesII) Cookies

To facilitate the use of our website, we use so-called cookies. Cookies are small pieces of data that are stored on the user’s computer by the web browser and are helpful for using our website. Cookies do not store your personal data. You can set your internet browser to prevent cookies from being stored on your hard drive or to ask you each time whether you agree to their usage. Once cookies have been set, you can delete them at any time. You can find out how this works in detail in the help pages of your browser. The web portal informs visitors the first time they access the pages that cookies are being stored.

III) Use of analytical services

We use the web analysis programme Matomo (formerly ‘Piwik’) on our website. This programme allows us to track the use of our website and to optimise it if necessary. For this purpose, ‘Pikwik’ uses so-called cookies. These are small pieces of data stored on your computer. The resulting usage information and your IP address are forwarded to our server and stored in order to analyse your usage behaviour. During this process, your IP address is made anonymous immediately so that no links can be made to you as a user. The information obtained in this way will not be passed on to third parties. You can change the settings of your browser software to prevent cookies from being stored. In doing so, however, you may not be able to use all functions of our website to their full extent.

You may turn off the storage and usage of this data at any time during your visit to our website. All you have to do is tick the box below so that the tick is no longer shown in the box (opt-out procedure). In this case, a so-called opt-out cookie is stored in your browser, which prevents Matomo from collecting session data. Please note that deleting your cookies means that the opt-out cookie is also deleted and may need to be reactivated the next time you visit our website.
