Environmentally friendly purchasing
Table of contents
Environmentally friendly purchasing helps to relieve the environment and promotes environmentally friendly products and services on the market. As a public contracting entity, TU Dresden is required to comply with certain stipulations of public procurement legislation. This also applies to the incorporation of environmental aspects in procurement decisions. At TU Dresden, there are various ways to be eco-friendly.
Maßnahmen
- The purchasing of stationery and business supplies takes place almost exclusively via an online shop at TU Dresden. Particularly environmentally friendly products are marked here with the “Blue Angel” logo.
- Overall paper consumption continues to be reduced, and there is no exception at TU Dresden. However, the proportion of recycled paper in use must be increased. Using recycled paper reduces wood consumption and it conserves water and energy. Therefore, for printing and copying purchase recycled paper with the “Blue Angel” logo! Environmental Coordinator Dr. Ines Herr () is your contact for inquiries regarding purchasing and use of recycled paper.
- TU Dresden has concluded framework agreements that employees can make use of to purchase office furniture and equipment via Unit Central Purchases. Certain criteria were considered as part of the central tender for this office furniture, for instance that replacement parts remain available for a long period of time, that plastics used do not contain halogen compounds, and that emissions associated with any wood parts be low. The furniture can also be used modularly. When selecting office furniture for your structural unit, make sure all parts have the same design and can be used separatly.
- Furthermore, there is the option at TU Dresden to acquire discarded items from other organizational units, such as shelves, desks, tables, and (office) chairs. Subject to setting up an appointment, discarded items can be viewed in the intermediate storage location, Seminar Building 2, Room 023 (contact Ms. Niesar by phone at ext. 34543 or email at ).
