Explore and strengthen biodiversity on campus
Excursion of the basic lecture on ecological sustainability:
Biodiversity as the basis of all ecosystem services - we explore the campus and learn how important biodiversity is for us humans
Date: 04/27/2023
Time: 1:30 p.m. to approximately 5:00 p.m.
Location: HSZ meadow (behind HSZ)
The excursion takes us into the realm of plants and animals and sheds light on their ecological interrelationships. Guided by the expert for insect-friendly meadows Nicole Rüsing of the Campus Species Inventory project, we will discover parts of the TU Dresden campus in a new way. We learn to understand what biodiversity means, why it is so important, and what effects a loss of it has on us humans. In doing so, we explore the biodiversity of fauna and flora on site and draw conclusions about the quality of our campus green spaces.
Afterward, we will get active and help the Biodiversity Working Group of the Environment Commission to plant a flowering meadow on the campus grounds. The goal of this is to increase biodiversity on campus and thus actively protect the environment.
To participate in the event, please register for the event on OPAL at https://tud.link/prn0. There you will also find information about other exciting field trips and workshops (where you can also receive credits).
In preparation for our field trip, participants can view the URV lecture on biodiversity. Furthermore, it would be advisable to wear work clothes and bring gloves and a planting shovel if available.
